Xiaomi entered the Indian market on July 15, 2014, with the release of the Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone. In the next few days, on July 15, 2021, Xiaomi will celebrate its seventh birthday in India. To celebrate the seventh anniversary, Xiaomi organized a Mi anniversary sale featuring offer discounts on Amazon India. This sale starts today and will last until July 16.
Now, during this promotion, Xiaomi has listed some discounts on Redmi smartphones, and the discounts seem unbelievable. So now is a good time to buy a Redmi smartphone, right? Well, don’t worry too much. If you compare the starting prices of these smartphones, it will come down to the fact that there is no real discount. Let’s see futher.
Amazon India’s Mi Anniversary Days sales page stated that Xiaomi is offering a 2,000 rupees discount for the Redmi 9 variant with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage space, which reduces the price of the smartphone from 10,999 rupees to 8,999 rupees. However, if you try and dig deeper, you will find that the 4GB + 64GB model of Redmi 9 launched in India was originally priced at Rs 8,999. This means that during Xiaomi’s anniversary promotion, there is no real discount on the price of Redmi 9, it’s all a hoax.
So what is actually happening here? Well, Xiaomi basically showed the highest selling price (MRP) of Redmi 9 (Rs 10,999), which is higher than the normal selling price of smartphones (Rs 8,999), and users are forced to think that the phone is on sale. In fact, Xiaomi sells Redmi 9 at the same price (Rs 8,999) as it was before the sale.
It is also worth noticing that not all offers may be fake. We only checked the offers highlighted on the “Mi Anniversary” offer homepage on Amazon. Many other products are also listed in this offer. Maybe some of these suggestions might actually be true. However, the cheapest deal proved to be far-fetched. Even so, this is still a good time to buy Xiaomi products because you can enjoy a 10% discount. Using the SBI card, it can reduce the price of Redmi smartphones by as much as 1,000 rupees.
