Mexico: After surviving many murder attempts, Journalist shot dead in Tijuana

Mexico: On Sunday, the Journalist named Lourdes Maldonado Lopez was shot to death on the northern side Mexico border in Tijuana city. As per the information provided by the sources, it is the third death of a journalist in the nation over the past two weeks.

According to the statement provided by the Attorney General Office in Baja California, on Sunday, Lopez was shot inside her car in the neighbourhood of Tijuana in Santa Fe.

On Sunday, around 7 pm, the law enforcement officers got the information related to the incident, and when they arrived at the location, the Journalist was dead. However, the investigators are looking forward to more details related to the happening.

According to the information provided by the human rights organization, Article 19, as Lopez was a member of this organization, the Journalist used to cover the news on politics as well as corruption. He was also facing some attacks from the people because of her work and was very scared of the ambush she was going through.

In 2019, in the month of March, Journalist Lopez made an appeal to the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, during his everyday press, sharing the information that she is worried about her life and want his help support and labour justice.

Earlier, Lopez was involved in a labour dispute with the owner of the PSN media outlet named Jaime Bonilla. Lopez used to work there, and due to the harsh, unjust and unreasonable manner, she was dismissed from that job. She sued the company. After some passage of time in November 2019, Bonilla vowed to be the governor of Baja California.

During the time she died, she just achieved the lawsuit.

Bonilla tweeted on Monday he has a good connection with Lopez, but he was not in contact with her for many years. He did not know why she asked for protection from the president, “There was no argument with her ever. She never faced a threat.”
