Trucker protests point of concern for US-Canada border trade

On the US-Canada border, on 8th February, Tuesday the Canadian lawmakers have shared their concern related to the economic consequences of the disruptive protests on the boundary between the USA and Canada, it has been blocked to a limited extent by the truck drivers demonstrating against the vaccination mandates as well as the different coronavirus restrictions.

Moreover, the demonstration is separating the individuals of Canada in lines. The blockage of the Ambassador Bridge in between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, has stopped the traffic from having an entry in Canada still, there are some of the US traffic which was able to move forward.

The Minister of Public Minister, Marco Mendicino, mentioned about the bridge, “It is one of the most important border crossings in the world.” It manages 25percent of all the trade between Canada and the United States.

Additionally, according to the information provided by the Canadian Transport Minister Omat Alghabra, the blocking of the border indicates that it will affect the economy as well as the supply chains. “I have already heard from the automakers and the food grocers. This is creating a situation of concern.”

Mendicino further added, “The majority of the citizens of Canada understand that there is a difference between being exhausted as well as fatigued with the pandemic and crossing into some other universe.”

On Monday, there was a discussion held in the Parliament. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau mentioned that the demonstrators are “Working to blockade our economy, our democracy.”
