Utah: Two Black Hawk helicopters collides during training exercise

Two Black Hawk helicopters collided and crashed in Utah in a training exercise. The information was released by Utah National Guard on Twitter.

The crash took place near the Snowbird ski resort on Tuesday.

As per the information provided by the Utah National Guard, this incident took place on Tuesday near the Snowbird ski resort. No crewmembers or skiers were injured.

A video of the scene has been shared on the internet in which the two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters flew around the ski resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon, which is 30 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.

Moreover, the video has been captured from a considerable distance, and there is snow all over the two of the helicopters while they are landing. As the first one lands, the second one starts crashing down towards the snow.

Along with this, the chief warrant officer five named Jared Jones, along with the Utah National Guard, mentioned during the press conference that both the choppers were trying to attempt landing during routine survivability and mobility mountain training.

Jones stated, “As they landed, the snow kicked up, and the aircraft probably lost sight of the ground.”

He further mentioned that the parts of the blade of the chopper was detached and was stuck inside the second chopper while landing.

Additionally, an investigation for this incident has been undertaken. The spokesperson said, “It was a blessing that everyone was okay and no fuel leaked.”

After this incident took place, the Utah National Guard has cancelled all of the training flights.

However, the chopper was developed by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company.

As per the details provided by the company’s website, the Black Hawk serves with the United States military and the armed forces of around 28 other nations.

These choppers are used to provide fire suppression during the time of supporting ground troops and as an armed escort.

Lockheed Martin mentioned that such kinds of helicopters could fly higher and could carry more than their predecessors.
