Texas boy, 13 was driving pickup truck collided with van, 9 killed: Police

In Houston, Texas, on Thursday, March 17, a 13-year-old teenager was driving a pickup truck that crashed with a van that was carrying a college golf team. As per the information shared by the officials, nine individuals have been killed.

According to the police officials, On Tuesday, six members of the New Mexico-based University of the Southwest golf team were dead due to the collision. Their coach was also there and also suffered death.

Moreover, the 13-year-old, along with his 38-year-old father, who was riding in the pickup truck, had also faced death when the incident took place, and it has happened nearby Andrews in Texas.

The Dodge 2500 truck drove into the oncoming lane, slamming head-on with the van, as per the information provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Along with this, after the crash, both of the vehicles caught fire.

As per the vice-chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board named Bruce Landsberg, the boy was behind the wheel of the vehicle at the time the incident took place.

However, the 13-year-old was not following the rules and regulations of Texas. On the other hand, at the age of 15, the individuals can get a learner’s permit, which will help them drive a vehicle at 21 and be licensed adults.

Furthermore, both the vehicles were at the highest speed by which the pickup truck’s left tire was blown out before the crash.

The students of the Two Universities of the Southwest, both Canadians, are admitted to the health care centre and are in serious condition.
