Indian state UP performed better in Covid-19 mgmt than US: Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation made the statement that the COVID-19 management of Uttar Pradesh, India is better than United States.

The CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mark Suzaman, leads the organisation in the service of the mission, to help every person in having the opportunity to live to live a healthy, productive life.

He mentioned in the statement, “Having seen Covid management of many nations where we work, it would be relevant to say that India, especially Uttar Pradesh, was far better in management of Covid-19 than even the United States. The way the state’s leadership has tackled population density and various social challenges to control the pandemic is commendable.”

The BMGF delegation met the chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday to discuss the ways to enhance technical cooperation in health, nutrition and agricultural sectors, highlighted in the statement by the state government.

The chief minister stated, “The Foundation has played a key role in effective implementation of the state government’s schemes for the poor. They have also been availing technical support in the agriculture sector in recent years.”

Yogi mentioned that, “The latest National Family Health Survey-5 (NFHS-5) results discloses that the state has witnessed phenomenal improvement in health & nutrition sector.”

As per to the CM, the Uttar Pradesh government also received the foundation’s support in tackling COVID, including setting up dedicated COVID hospitals in Noida, Gonda and Prayagraj.

Furthermore, the chief minister states that the premature deaths of the majority of the children from encephalitis were controlled by 95 percent.
