Satx police officer, killed 13-year-old boy earlier this month also shot man last year

United States: The police officer in San Antonio who killed a 13-year-old boy earlier this month should have been kicked off the police force month ago, says the sister of a man who the same officer fatally shot in the previous year.

Debra Montez Felder’s brother John Pena Montez, 57-year-old was killed by officer Stephen Ramos in March 2021, mentioned she constantly remained in touch with the Bexas County District Attorney’s Office over the last year, pushing them for more information about the internal investigation into her brother’s death, to no avail.

She mentioned in the statement, “SAPD and the DA’s office were on notice that this guy was a hothead, trigger-happy. You were aware of it even before killing this 13-year-old kid.”

Moreover, the San Antonia Police Department did not answer the requests for comment related to the Montez case.

The Bexar County district attorney’s office has mentioned in a statement that, it “has not completed the review of this case so that it can be presented to a Grand Jury, which will determine whether there is sufficient probable cause to send the case to a trial court.”

The office highlighted, “It would be inappropriate for our office to comment on the facts of that case at this time.”

Along with this, Ramos is under probe for the killing of Andre Hernandez Jr.

The officer has allegedly shot into a car. Andre was driving on June 3 as he feared the boy would strike officers with it following he intentionally crashed into a police vehicle, said police.

That account has been disputed by Lee Merritt, an attorney defining the boy’s family, who, after watching two police dashcam videos and footage from Ramos’s bodycam, called the police account “false” and “incorrect.”

In addition, he outlined the videos showing Andre “bumping” into a car while travelling at a low speed & called the shooting an unjustified use of force as the officers were not in imminent danger of death.

Police added Ramos has been with the department for 3 years as well as is currently on paid administrative duty.
