Michigan man probing California family found dead; had to be rescued

United States: A Michigan guy wanted to look into a case where a California family found dead had to be rescued after getting lost on a path in the Sierra National Forest, as per the sheriff’s office.

According to the officials, a Michigan guy claimed he wanted to conduct a study on a California family that was discovered dead on a route in the Sierra National Forest after being lost and requiring to be rescued.

Earlier on Wednesday, a hiker who may be identified went missing in the vicinity of the Savage Lundy Trail, where in August, John Gerrish, Ellen Chung, their 1-year-old daughter, Miju, as well as their dog were discovered dead.

The hiker, who is said to be in his mid-60s, started out in a remote location, the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office noted on Facebook. The gate to the location was shut, and a notice that said “CLOSED” was posted.

Along with this, the man got off the right track after he could not find the trail that led to Savage Lundy, the sheriff’s office stated.

Another hiker reported the man missing after noticing the man’s car parked near the entrance of a trail. The hiker shared the information with the authorities that he saw the man on June 28, as well as that the man stated that he wanted to do some personal research on the death of the family because he found it “odd,” according to the sheriff’s office.

After he was rescued, the man complained about having to spend the night in the wilderness “because he was not able to find the trail that leads to the Savage Lundy portion,” the sheriff’s office outlined.
