Tanguy Watteeuw-warrent officer participates in ceremony on National Korean War Armistice Day

Warrant Officer Tanguy Watteeuw took part in a ceremony on National Korean War Armistice Day to recall the sacrifice of those people who fought in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.

As per the information, the Korean War Armistice was signed about 69 years ago at 10 a.m.

The Embassy of Belgium in the United States of America noted on their Twitter account, “Today, on  National Korean War Armistice Day, Warrant Officer Tanguy Watteeuw participated in a ceremony to remember the sacrifice of those who fought in the #KoreanWar (1950-1953). #OTD, 69 years ago at 10 a.m., the Korean War Armistice was signed.”

Currently, in Washington, D.C., a new section of the Korean War Memorial, the Wall of Remembrance, was dedicated in honour of the more than 43,000 service members who fought and died in the Korean War.

Along with this, the names are etched into 100 granite panels that comprise the Wall of Remembrance.

The kingdom of Belgium was one of the nations that supplied a battalion (Belgian United Nations Command) at the time of the Korean War. This Belgian volunteer corps for Korea was placed under American command. 106 Belgian soldiers were killed, as well as 478 were injured.

During the Korean War, about 1.8 million Americans answered the call to serve and defend the freedoms and universal values that the individuals of South Korea appreciate Today.

The people have faced various challenges, often outnumbered by the enemy, facing extreme heat and cold while fighting in the mountains and valleys as well as in the rice paddies and rocky terrain of the Korean Peninsula.

Over 36,000 of that American service were killed in action, along with over 7,000 Korean Augmentation to the United States Army soldiers that fought with the United States Armed Forces. They have sacrificed everything to defend freedom and democracy on the Peninsula.
