New Jersey reports 1,474 fresh cases, 12 deaths due to COVID-19: Reports

United States: In the state of the United States of America- New Jersey reported another 1,474 cases had been confirmed of COVID-19 infection on Tuesday, and 12 confirmed deaths in a day reported after the state’s rate of transmission increased above the expected cases.

The transmission rate was 1.04, which increased from 0.97 on Sunday last week.

When the rate of transmission is one, this means the cases have been levelled off at the current numbers, while anything above one indicates the outbreak is rising.

Moreover, the state’s seven-day average for confirmed COVID positive tests is 1,433, and there is a 2 percent increase from a week ago as well as a 22 percent decrease from a month ago.

The United States Centers for Disease Control & Prevention deems 11 counties in the state to have “medium” community levels of transmission, including Monmouth, Ocean, Burlington, Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon, Cape May, Camden, Atlantic, Salem, as well as Gloucester.

Along with this, the remaining ten counties — Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Morris, Essex, Union, Middlesex, Somerset, Mercer, as well as Cumberland are deemed “low,” as per the CDC.

There were 861 patients with confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases recorded at the state’s 71 hospitals as of Tuesday. Of those hospitalized, 101 are in intensive care as well as 30 are on ventilators.

The statewide positivity rate for tests conducted on Thursday, the most recent day for which data is available, was 10.61 percent.

The CDC believes positivity rates above 10 percent are “high.”

The positivity rate is substantially less than its peak of 40.83 percent on January 1 during the height of the Omicron variant.

Thus far, the state has recorded about 2.3 million total confirmed COVID-19 cases since New Jersey reported its first cases on March 4, 2020.
