“America’s “violent crime wave” is a hoax”, says US Journalist Judd Legum

United States: American Journalist Judd Legum shared his official statement on the crime rate in the United States. Over the last 30 years, violent crime has been down dramatically in the United States of America, and there has been no recent increase in cases.

He mentioned in the statement, “America’s “violent crime wave” is a hoax.”

According the data shared by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics shows that there has been no increase in the United States’ violent crime rate since the start of the COVID pandemic.

Along with this, he shared a graph in which the data of the United States’ violent crime rate and violent victimizations per 1,000 Americans ages 12 and older has been highlighted from 1993 to 2021 of Simple assault, Aggravated assault, Robbery, and Rape/sexual assault. The graph depicts the information that in 1993, there was the highest crime rate in America which was 79.8 percent in total.

Between 2005 and 07, the maximum crime rate percentage has been outlined as 34.1 percent. Moreover, it was reduced more with time as it reached 26.1 percent between 2011 and 2013.

Also, in 2017 and 2019, there was a decrease of 3 percent noticed in the cases of violent crime as well as in the previous year, it was reduced to 16.5 percent.

On the other hand, the American Lawyer and Journalist mentioned in the official statement that the murder rate has increased since the beginning of the pandemic, “It’s well below previous highs.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the murder rate in the United States suddenly increased in 2020, but it still remains below the previous highs.

Judd Legum shared another graph which shows the information of murders per 100,000 individuals in the United States of America. It indicates that in 1970, about 8.1 percent of the murder cases drastically increased to 10.5 percent between 1970 and 1980.

There were slight variations in the cases of murders between 1980 to 2010, and in 2020 the cases were again noticed more as compared to in 1970.
