Photo shows East German opening Berlin Wall for free passage between divided parts

In commemoration to November 9, 1989, the U.S. European Command shared a photograph, which shows the Berlin Wall, the infamous barrier, that was torn down 33 years back; it stood for at least 10,315 days between East and West.

On November 9, 1989, the government of Germany opened the wall, which allowed free passage between the divided parts of the city.

The U.S. European Command highlighted that this indicated the end of the #ColdWar as other Eastern European countries were taking action to end communist rule.

According to information shared by Wikipedia, the wall was a guarded concrete border that separated Berlin from 1961 to 1989. Moreover, the #Berlinwall surrounded the entire West Berlin, and it separated from East German territory. The German Democratic Republic initiated the construction of the wall on August 13, 1961.

Along with this, November 9 has been mentioned as the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

On the other hand, the National Leader of Belarus- Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, took to her official Twitter and noted that the #BerlinWall divided for so long come down.

This is the day of horrors of Kristallnacht in 1938. Furthermore, she shared two of her pictures in that same place and quoted, “On this day, in 1989, the Berlin Wall that divided for so long came down. It was a historic moment for Europe. But this is also the day of the horrors of Kristallnacht in 1938. It reminds us that we must fight to protect our values of freedom, democracy & peace every day.”
