Antigua and Barbuda: West Indies Player Organization arranges Player Development Seminar

The West Indies Player Organization (WIPA) recently held a CWI/WIPA Player Development Seminar in Antigua. Female cricketers across the Caribbean came together to discuss crucial topics such as nutrition, overall health, bullying, and harassment.

The primary objective of this meeting is to empower women to speak out against discrimination, bullying, harassment, and any other forms of mistreatment.

The main purpose of this gathering is to introduce strict diet plans to the West Indies women cricketers. This will help them to maintain a good physique and perform better in the upcoming Women’s Regional Tournament in St Kitts, starting next week.

During the meeting, the women cricketers engaged in a discussion surrounding Nutrition and the Effects of Sugar on Performance and General Health. It has been emphasized that stable blood sugar levels and avoiding unhealthy foods are crucial for all women in the West Indies cricket team.

Frequent participation in sports and games can cause various issues for those with high sugar levels. According to a study publicized in Nature Metabolism, elevated blood sugar levels can slow muscle growth in response to exercise and training and indicate reduced oxygen consumption during aerobic activities.

Playing Cricket requires a great deal of patience, stamina, power, strength, and mental awareness. To excel at the game, players must exercise regularly, practice consistently, and eat foods that a nutritionist approves. It is also crucial to avoid unhealthy foods with high sugar levels.

During the discussion, the main topic was educating female players about their nutrition plan, emphasizing maintaining healthy sugar levels. Furthermore, they received instruction on how to protect themselves from bullying and harassment.

The organizer emphasized that Cricket and other sports should not tolerate bullying or harassment. Therefore, individuals who experience such behaviour should promptly report it to the Cricket board so that management can take swift and severe action against those involved.
