CWI announces U19 squad ahead of West Indies tour of Sri Lanka

St. John’s, Antigua: Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced the West Indies U19 rising stars men squad for the upcoming Tour of Sri Lanka starting from August 25, 2023.

The selection panel chose 15 players for the Rising Stars Under 19s Tour, which will take place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium and include three 50-over matches and two four-day matches against Sri Lanka Under 19.

The tour’s final two red ball matches, which will be played with white balls, will be captained by left-handed all-rounder and slow bowler Nathan Sealy rather than top-order batsman Stephan Pascal.

Three members of the squad participated in the West Indies-hosted ICC Men’s U19 World Cup in 2022. They are Jordan Johnson, a left-handed batter; Nathan Edward, a quick bowler; and Isai Thorne, an all-around athlete.

Robert Haynes, Lead Selector for the Rising Stars Men’s Under 19s said, “This tour to Sri Lanka is crucial for the development of this group of young cricket players. We have a number of outstanding players on the team who performed admirably at the most recent West Indies Rising Stars Under 19s Championships in St. Vincent, and we are confident that they will advance during the next tour”.

Following is the list of entire squad of West Indies’ rising star U19 team selected for the tour of Sri Lanka. During the visit, a 50-over warm-up match, a three-match ODI and two-match Test series will be played.
