T20 World Cup spells Tourism Boost for St Vincent, Airline bookings, hotel occupancy spikes

The tourism sector of St Vincent and the Grenadines has experienced a boost in light of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. St Vincent and the Grenadines is one of the hots of the highly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup.

St Vincent and the Grenedines’ Arnos Vale Gr.ound is all set to welcome the cricket teams of Bangladesh and Netherland for their third match in the group stage. Both the teams have emerged as the victors in one of the two matches that they played prior to facing each other

Arnos Vale Ground: The Stage for T20 World Cup Excitement

The Arnos Vale Ground will be the venue for five remarkable matches during  the T20 World Cup. The matches start with the clash between Bangladesh and Netherlands on Thursday. As one of the biggest and most anticipated event in Cricket, ICC T20 World Cup matches attract hundreds and thousands of Tourists.

The fans and supporters of Bangladesh as well as Netherlands have turned up in large numbers to watch their favorite teams in action. The arrival of cricket lovers to the shores of St Vincent and the Grenadines has bore well for the tourism based economy of the nation.

The tourism stakeholders of the island have reported that they are recording a spike in Airline bookings to St Vincent and The Grenadines. Furthermore, the hotels across the island have also reached a 75% occupancy rate.

The numbers, as announced by the government of St Vincent and Grenadines are historic for the island nation. As one of the hosts of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the island has witnessed a boost in visibility among tourists.

The Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, Carlos James  expressed his sincere delight to see the boost in the tourism sector. He spoke regarding the development during a Press Briefing held outside the Financial Complex in Kingstown.

The Minister highlighted that the teams competing in the T20 World Cup have booked 1400 rooms in various hotels. The technical and support staff for the teams also booked an additional 200 rooms in the hotels across the island. 

The Minister also highlighted that the upcoming Vincy Mas 2024 will also manage to attract tourist footfall along with the ICC T20 World Cup. Both these events are set to bring a substantial economic boost.

The boost of the tourism  sector will also benefit everyone from taxi operators and tour guides to small businesses and restaurants.
