Florida, United States: A man has been arrested, accused of trying to set a 1-year-old, baby on fire in New York City.
As per the sources, the deputies were called to a truck shop in Tyre at about 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning for a report of multiple fires.
Moreover, the police officials arrested the 28-year-old named Jamie L. Avery Jr. of West Palm Beach, as well as a second suspect, for allegedly starting the fires.
The officials then found out that a 1-year-old baby was covered in a flammable substance.
Along with this, Lt. Timothy Thompson mentioned in the statement, “It is alleged that the two suspects had poured an easily set on fire liquid on the one-year-old child & attempted to light the child on fire inside the building. Luckily the two were unsuccessful.”
A “suspicious device” was discovered in the restroom, but first responders ultimately determined it was an explosive’s “makeshift replica”.
Meanwhile, a four-year-old was found abandoned in the cab of a tractor-trailer.
The young one was taken to the health care centre, where it was found the child had head injuries.
In addition, Thompson stated, “Circumstances surrounding the 4-year-old are still under investigation.”
Avery Jr. was accused of aggravated murder, second-degree attempted murder, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and, second-degree arson, second-degree attempted arson.
Furthermore, the second suspect is expected to be identified and charged in the near future.
