North Carolina: Police Officer accidentally shot his son in the head

A police officer from North Carolina has shot his 15-year-old son in his head. This incident took place on Monday around 4:30 p.m. According to the sources, it was a sudden accident, was a single gunshot by which the victim died.

In Onslow Country, the District Attorney, Ernie Lee, shared this information on Facebook in which she mentioned, “The victim was a 15-year-old boy, who has left his life with a life-threatening situation from one single gunshot. The wound of that shot was on his head, and he was in the Vidant Medical Center in Pitt County.”

Furthermore, the identification of the boy’s father is not yet revealed. As per the information, he is a law enforcement officer along with the city of Jacksonville. According to the District Attorney, The Jacksonville Police Department said they would cooperate on this case during the investigation. She further mentioned in her statement, “This was a miserable event, and this matter should be under investigation by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.”

The statements, reports, and evidence from the event will be provided to the office to figure out what they can do in the further procedures. The issue happened after two days of a 3-year-old accidentally shooting herself in the head on Christmas day in Edneyville, North Carolina. She succumbed to the injuries sustained on Tuesday.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, children’s accidental gunshot deaths are around 31%. The police department stated, “They are asking for the prayers from the family as they have lost their son.” The accuse is not yet specified, and there is no arrest made in this case.
