COVID-19: New variant found in US, expert says not to worry yet

As per the Massachusetts scientists, the new variant of the COVID-19 has started growing over more than four continents but should not create nervousness among the people worldwide.

COVID-19 was started since two years, and now people have started living with it as it has spread globally, which affected individuals from all the nations. The protective measures were made to fight against the infection, and now there has a new variant of COVID introduced which is Omicron BA.2, and it is also anticipated to be constantly milder.

At the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, an infectious disease specialist, Dr Jacob Lemieux, mentioned, “I do not believe that it will create confusion as well as disruptions among the individuals and will also avoid the situation of morbidity and mortality which was formed by the BA.1( Omicron (BA.1) SARS-CoV-2 ). Without thinking about this variant, I hope that we will look forward to the betterment of the place, and I’m hoping for the best that this variant will not create any devastating condition.”

Moreover, as per the reports from Massachusetts, the cases of the COVID-19 is steeply decreasing, and at the same place the cases were rising rapidly in the previous year, the majority of the individuals were getting affected by the COVID variant (BA.1), and the hospitalization rates were also soaring, Lemieux added.

Meanwhile, He further stated the cases of the new variant of COVID-19 (BA.2) could spread in some nations, including the Philippines, Denmark, India as well as South Africa. The BA.2 have been recorded in California, New Mexico, Texas and Washington state in the United States.

Dr Jacob Lemieux said the rise in the cases of the new variant in Denmark depicts the information that as the cases of the previous Omicron is showing the downward trend which leads to increase in the new variant but currently they both have the same level which is still unclear that which of the variant is the reason behind this outbreak.
