Philadelphia house set on fire, 12 people lost lives including children

An apartment building was set on blaze in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Twelve people lost their lives while numerous of the people were brutally injured.

According to the information provided by the Fire Department, eight dead bodies of children along with several other unidentified bodies have been recovered from the spot. The fire broke out at 6:00(11:00GMT) in the house on the city’s north side.

This incident took place in the two-unit apartment on Wednesday. Two people were admitted to the hospital, and 12 individuals were found dead, including seven children. As per the information provided by Murphy, there were four f

ire alarms in the building, which was not working.

Occupants of the building, a 34-year-old Dannie McGuire and 35-year-old Martin Burgert, said about the situation, “The children living at that apartment were all familiar to us as well as they used to play around the corner.” For a decade, they were living at that building. They further mentioned, “As long as they have shifted at that building that kids were living there.”

The building owner is a government-funded Philadelphia Housing Authority, and in that building, 18 people lived in the upper rooms in the third and second-floor apartments. Meanwhile, the remaining eight people were in the first floor rooms and some part of the second floor.

Craig Murphy, the Deputy Fire Commissioner, stated, it was the most destructive fire he had ever noticed. “Making sure to not that this loss of the lives people is not waste.” The remaining other people were successfully escaped from the building. There were almost 26 individuals during the incident.

The reports mentioned that the children and the people who died are not disclosed yet.

During a press conference, the mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenney, said, “No doubt this is one of the most destructive days in history as so many people have lost their lives in such a miserable way. Lots of kids have lost their lives in a deplorable manner .”
