US: Snow storm halts thousands of flights, airline offers fee waivers

In the US, as the winter storm increases rapidly, it is restricting the travel plans for the individuals planning for travelling. As per the information provided by the sources, over 5,600 flights have been delayed in the middle of Friday and Sunday.

Moreover, the strong wind blowing from the northeast is seeking to create a devastating situation in the mid-Atlantic, which will also begin in the Northeast from Friday night. The airlines have cancelled over 1,450 flights in and out of the United States. As per the flight-tracking website FlightAware, there are more than 5,650 flights have been cancelled.

As per the information provided by the sources, over 3,500 USA flights were delayed on Saturday because of the storm around 7.30 a.m. ET, including JetBlue Airways, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Approximately 100 flights were already delayed on Sunday.

Currently, before heading towards the airport, all the travellers should have a look at the status of the flight, whether it is cancelled or not and if the flight is cancelled, then does it provide the re-booking option with no additional charges.

The spokesman of American Airlines, Curtis Blessing, shared the information in the statement, “The majority of the flights have been delayed in the beginning so we could notify and adjust our customers and bypass last-minute troubles at the airport. We apologize to our customers who have already booked the flights and their travel plans have been affected and want to thank our team who are working to help us take care of our customers.
