In Georgia, a woman is organizing campaigning to share the awareness and spread positivity among the individuals related to the uncombable’ hair due to rare condition as her 1-year-old son named Locklan is suffering “uncombable hair syndrome- UHS”.
As per the information provided by the health officials, it has been mentioned that it is a rare condition, and generally, it affects around 100 people all over the globe.
The mother of the child named Katelyn Samples, 33-year-old, mentioned, “We have zero indication why he has this issue, but we are so glad he does.”
Along with this, the Atlanta native and her 33-year-old husband noticed something was wrong when their baby boy turned 5-months-old, and his hair started to grow.
Samples stated, “It was coming in straight up and was so soft as well as fuzzy.”
Moreover, the mother of the two young ones believed that nothing was wrong with her boy, and then a stranger messaged her during the last summer on Instagram, questioning her if her tyke had “uncombable hair syndrome”. She had never heard about such a thing before.
According to the NHS, Fearing the worst, the worried mother did a “deep Google dive” into the disease, which is caused by a structural abnormality in the hair that prevents it from being flattened or combed, leaving it perpetually untidy. UHS usually affects children aged three months to three years, while patients as elderly as twelve have been observed. Even though there have only been 100 cases confirmed, medical experts believe several may have gone unreported.
Her mother said, “Hearing about your son has a genetic ‘condition’ is not easy, especially because it is so rare there is not a lot of information on it, but as I have learned as much as I could as well as connected with other parents around the whole world (in a UHS Facebook group), I became less worried and more respectful of how unique Locklan is. Other than wild and crazy cool hair, he is perfectly healthy and pleased!”
