Philadelphia homeless man assaults woman after she refuses to give up seat

In Philadelphia, a homeless man has assaulted a pregnant woman in a SEPTA bus after the woman said no to give up her seat.

As per the information provided by the sources, the 6’2″ man allegedly hit the woman in the face and pushed her towards the metal pole. The bus driver then contacted the police officials on 911 for describing the incident, but the man escaped.

Moreover, the transit agency SEPTA mentioned, “Police said the suspect approached the woman, who was seated, and demanded that she give her seat to him. When she rejected, he punched her in the face & pushed her, then fled.”

Along with this, the incident took place around 1:45 am on a Market-Frankford Line Night Owl bus near 8th and Market streets in Center City on Sunday, March 13.

According to the local media outlets, the transit agency mentioned that the woman was two months pregnant.

After the incident took place, the police officials stated, the suspect followed the pregnant woman, and he hit her and the victim “wanted to go to the health care centre to check on the condition of the fetus.”

According to the sources, the Police said the pregnant woman was taken to the Jefferson University hospital for the treatment of the non-life-threatening injuries. The authorities also mentioned that they had submitted the case to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office to obtain an arrest warrant.

On Monday, March 14, the homeless man was under arrest, and charges were filed against him.

Meanwhile, the man is yet to be identified as well as it is not yet declared what more charges he is going to face.

Furthermore, the second incident involved an invasion of pregnant women on the transit system within the previous six months.

In September 2021, a knife-wielding man left the pregnant woman with minor wounds after an attack at a SEPTA station.
