Philadelphia police official shots 12-year-old boy to death; officer suspended

In the United States, a Philadelphia police officer has shot to death a 12-year-old boy in the last week. On Tuesday, the Commissioner named Danielle Outlaw mentioned that he would be fired.

The Commissioner stated that the officer would be suspended for a maximum of 30 days with the intention to dismiss, the process by which are removed from the force.

As per the details shared by the police sources, with the proper knowledge of the investigation said, the officer named Edsaul Mendoza, a five-year veteran, was assigned to a task force in South Philadelphia.

On Tuesday, the investigators tried to reach him they were unsuccessful.

Danielle Outlaw refused to identify how Mendoza had disobeyed the departmental guidelines, mentioned, “It was clear that the use-of-force policy was violated.”

She said the evidence indicated it was certain that Mendoza, who she referred to only as officer number 1, was the only one who fired the shot that struck and killed Thomas “TJ” Siderio, the 12-year-old.

Outlaw rejected all of the requests for the details related to what she has called an ongoing investigation, and she mentioned that the incident which took place after the boy fired a shot into an unmarked police car as well as took off running and was “a sickening and saddening situation all around.”

The Commissioner mentioned, “It’s tragic that a 12-year-old had access to a gun. Tragically, we have trigger pullers as young as 12. And it is tragic that we had one of our own go against everything that we say we are.”

Along with this, Mayor Jim Kenney mentioned in a statement that he totally agrees with the decision of Outlaw, calling the shooting a “deeply troubling incident with a tragic loss of life.”

Furthermore, District Attorney Larry Krasner also said the case was “deeply troubling” but declined to comment further as his office investigated.
