Chicago schools decides to tighten security after Texas school shooting

United States: The majority of the Chicago Public Schools have made the decision to tighten school security following the Texas school massacre.

CPS CEO Pedro Martinez stated that the district had already planned to replace some of the “outdated” school security, camera as well as intercom systems, but this week’s events have been required to do so.

Moreover, Martinez mentioned in the statement, “Count on when we release our capital budget you are gonna see, we’ve already put resources there, but I’m going to increase them even more because I want to respond to our school leaders and our teachers.”

Martinez highlighted that the response of the district wouldn’t involve adding police officers to educational institutions.

Along with this, most of the high schools have removed one or both of their Chicago police officers in the past couple of years after votes by their local school councils.

On the other hand, more details are emerging about 19 young ones and two teachers who were killed in Robb elementary school, Texas, by an 18-year-old shooter. All of the 21 victims have been identified by the City of Uvalde.

Furthermore, Former President Donald Trump said the United States has to “dramatically overhaul” its approach to mental health and asked for increased school security during his speech at the NRA convention in Houston.

Trump’s remarks came in the aftermath of a massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, which claimed the lives of 19 pupils and two teachers.
