New Jersey records 18 COVID-19 deaths and 3,590 fresh cases

United States: The authorities of New Jersey have recorded 18 more COVID-19 deaths and 3,590 new confirmed positive tests as the FDA approved the vaccination booster shots for healthy children between the ages of 5 to 11.

The authorities of the United States are hoping that an extra vaccination dose will boost up their protection as infection once again follows the upward trend.

The majority of the people 12 and older already were supposed to get one booster dose for the best protection against the cases of the new variant of the COVID as well as some other individuals, including those that are 50 and above, can go for the second booster dose.

The state’s seven-day average for confirmed cases increased to 3,928 on Tuesday, up by 34 percent from a week ago and up 129 percent from a month ago, as the virus continues to spread.

There were 829 people that were infected by the COVID-19 or suspected COVID cases registered at 70 of the state’s 71 hospitals in New Jersey as of Monday night. One hospital did not report data.

The number of people that have been admitted to the health care centre still remains significantly lower than when it peaked at 6,089 on Jan. 10 during the Omicron wave.

Along with this, there were about 89 individuals discharged in that same 24-hour period ending Monday, according to state data.

Of those hospitalized, 94 were in intensive care as well as 36 were on ventilators.

New Jersey’s statewide transmission rate was 1.27 Tuesday.

When the transmission rate is over 1, that means each new case is leading to at least one additional case, and the outbreak is expanding.

The positivity rate for tests conducted on Thursday, the most recent day with the available date, was 12.06 percent.

Furthermore, the state on Tuesday also recorded 1,364 probable cases from rapid antigen testing at medical sites.
