US: Prez Biden decides to put off trip to Saudi Arabia, Israel

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has made the decision to put off the trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia, as per the reports.

According to the top U.S. officials, the United States of America’s president had decided to visit the two nations in the previous June on his way back from missions to Spain and Germany.

Currently, he may be going in July, when he could participate in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), a diplomatic forum made up of various regional countries, according to sources. Moreover, the White House refuses to comment on any of the reports.

The information related to the planned trip had started controversy before it was officially organised.

Along with this, Biden confirmed on Friday that he decided to visit Saudi Arabia, which he had earlier promised to treat as a “pariah” state, although he did not mention any meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed ben Salman.

According to the sources, he planned to meet the Crown Prince, whom the U.S. President has thus far ostensibly avoided, considering that his interlocutor should be King Salman.

Meanwhile, U.S. intelligence services had asserted in a report made public by President Biden just after he took office that the Crown Prince had “validated” the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

This caused the United States’ president, who has been at the forefront of the fight against authoritarian governments, to proclaim that he was recalibrating ties with the monarchy by emphasising human rights.

However, since then, a new factor has entered the diplomatic equation: soaring gas costs, which have enraged the American public.

Furthermore, the United States has been attempting to urge the Saudi kingdom to expand its oil output to lower fuel costs.
