Pentagon to deliver military aid to Ukraine of over $800 million, says Biden

US President Joe Biden has made an announcement on Thursday at the conclusion of the Madrid NATO summit that the Pentagon would deliver a new military aid package to Ukraine worth “Over $800 million” (€760 million), according to the sources.

The new weapons package that would deliver by Pentagon include anti-aircraft defence, artillery as well as other equipment, but the complete information will be unveiled “in the upcoming days,” President Biden highlighted in the speech.

Along with this, till now, it has been reported that the package will include a new air defence system, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been demanding for months from Western nations, and more ammunition.

Since Russia’s full-scale military operation of Russia on February 24, the White House has promised Ukraine arms and military equipment worth around 7 billion dollars (6.7 billion euros), a part of which has already been delivered.

Moreover, Biden outlined in Madrid, “We will stand by Ukraine, and the whole Alliance will stand by it for as long as it takes to ensure Russia does not defeat it. We will defend every inch of NATO territory. To attack one of us is to attack them all.”

For Mr Biden, his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin has made Western allies “more united than ever”, pointing to the will displayed by NATO members to now increase spending on defence.

Furthermore, the US President recalled that the United States would reinforce its military presence in Europe in reaction to the war in Ukraine initiated by Russia, in particular on the eastern flank of NATO.
