Philadelphia: 11-year-old boy critically injured after being hit by truck, which fled the scene

United States: An 11-year-old child on the way to store was critically injured after being hit by a truck who fled the scene in Philadelphia, according to police. The youngster was tossed 50 feet into the air by the truck’s impact energy.

Around 7:46 p.m., a man operating a blue Ford F150 pickup hit the youngster as he was crossing the 4200 block of West Girard Avenue, according to Philadelphia Police Department Officer Eric McLaurin. The youngster was transported by ambulance to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where doctors described his condition as “very severe.”

According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, “it’s still unknown if the boy would survive injuries.”

After seeing the collision, several individuals dialled 911, according to Small.

The youngster was heading to a corner shop and in the crosswalk when he was struck, according to witnesses and family members who spoke to police, Small said. The westbound pickup truck driver allegedly cut across two lanes of traffic into the eastbound lanes and then struck the young kid there.

According to Small, the youngster was catapulted around 50 feet. He suffered severe wounds from his head to his feet as a result of the hit and was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment.

After the collision, at least one driver pursued the truck and was successful in obtaining the license plate for the 2022 Ford F150 pickup.

The pickup’s registration plate read ZTX6169 and was from Pennsylvania, according to the PPD. On Girard Avenue, it was last seen moving westward.

Furthermore, the driver was described as a man with glasses who seemed to be in his late 60s. Police urge anybody with information to get in touch with them.
