United States: A 16-year-old died after a pursuit that ended in a crash on Friday in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office mentioned.
The other juvenile was also injured in Sacramento. Moreover, the police officials of Sacraments stated that the officers have tried to pull over the vehicle near 65th Street and 14th Avenue at about 8:50 p.m. after it violated a vehicle code. The driver did not stop, as well as a chase lasted for about three minutes before all officers were pulled away from continuing to chase the vehicle.
A deputy was later spotted the vehicle and tried to pull them over, but the driver kept going, starting another pursuit. The 16-year-old driver eventually crashed near by Norwood and Main avenues. A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office mentioned speeds reached 115 mph during the pursuit.
Along with this, on early Saturday morning, Sgt. Kionna highlighted in the statement, “The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to our officers. They were weaving in & out of traffic, driving very erratically and creating a danger to the public, so that’s why they initiated this pursuit.”
Both the juveniles stated were male, and the injured juvenile’s condition is still unknown.
Rowe stated that the investigators with the sheriff’s office would investigate the initial traffic violation while city investigators would further investigate the crash.
In addition, Rowe confirmed that investigators are looking into whether something was thrown from the vehicle within the city’s jurisdiction during the pursuit before the vehicle crashed, deferring further comment to the police department.
