United States: Following a gunshot and home fire on Friday in Oak Forest, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, authorities reported that four family members were killed.
Police issued a shelter-in-place order after a neighbour’s video showed a guy killing numerous individuals on the house’s lawn.
The four deaths are all from the same family, the police subsequently verified.
Officers responded to a domestic violence incident as well as discovered three victims of gunshot wounds. The Oak Forest Police Department said in a statement that despite being taken to different hospitals, all three passed away as a result of their injuries.
Then, when police approached the house, the perpetrator locked himself inside and set it on fire.
Before smoke from the fires was spotted, a child who was also thought to be a member of the same family was safely removed from the house.
Before emergency response personnel entered the house, fire workers put out the fire. Then they discovered a fourth man’s body, who they thought was the suspect.
According to the reports, the neighbour’s video, which was taken before the police came, appears to show one man shooting three other individuals before barricading himself inside.
Later on in the day, police gradually reopened nearby roadways, and investigators stayed on the scene until early afternoon.
“We only kind of sat there and watched things happen in shock. It’s a terrible way to begin the day, “Jake Bittner, a neighbour, disclosed the details.
Brad Weert, 57-year-old, told the sources that after hearing about it in the news, “you just hope that one day it doesn’t come to your neighbourhood.” He said he heard “three pops” before noticing the “flames reaching as much as 10 feet over the rooftop.”
Emilio Rodriguez, 20, Briana Rodriguez, 22, Lupe Gomez, 43, and Carlos Gomez, 44, were eventually named as the police casualties.
