Memphis man shoots four, goes live on facebook during murder rampage

Memphis: The Police in Memphis, Tennessee has arrested a 19-year old Ezekiel Kelly , who drove around the city, senselessly shooting and killing atleast four and leaving several wounded. The hours-long rampage across the city forced had the citizens terrified and looking for a shelter.

Kelly had previously been charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder in 2020.He has been arrested and taken into custody at around 9 p.m. in the Memphis neighbourhood of Whitehaven, as stated by the police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph.
The director of Memphis Police Cerelyn ‘CJ’ Davis , during a news conference on Thurday said that the charges were yet to be pressed against Kelly.

The ruthless shooting had left four dead and three wounded in seven shootings across Memphis. The rampage began around 12:56 AM , Wednesday and continue to frighten the citizens till 8:30PM.

At least eight crime scenes that include seven shootings and carjacking of a Dodge Challenger in Southaven , Mississippi, said Davis. Kelly was arrested when he crashed during high speed chase after carjacking in Southaven, located in southern Memphis.

The crash had happened two hours after police had alerted about a man driving a light blue Infiniti, being responsible for multiple incidents of shooting in the city. According to the police, Kelly went on to kill a woman in Memphis and took her Toyota SUV, that he left behind when he carjacked the Dodge Challenger in Southaven. His ac tions were recorded on Facebook , said the police.

The horrific shootings had left tghe public-bus service suspended while a downtown stadium where a where minor-league baseball game was underway had been placed under lockdown. Meanwhile, the TV stations provided regular updates to the viewers.

Police received multiple tips as the shooting continued across the city. The students in University of Memphis had been updated about the shootings near the campus and advisory was issued to take up shelters at safe places.

The Memphis police, on Twitter warned about staying indoors until moving out was really necessary.
