North Carolina teacher accused of sexually assaulting a child at elementary school

United States: A teacher from North Carolina is accused of sexually assaulting a child at an elementary school, as per the sources.

Currently, the teacher, 31-year-old, is facing a charge of indecent liberties with a child, according to the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office.

On September 26, Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office shared the information. Zachary Warren Lamm was working at Coker-Wimberly Elementary School when deputies mentioned in the statement allegations surfaced on September 17.

Along with this, a child had reported being “inappropriately touched” on the pre-K to fifth-grade campus, prompting an investigation, as per the officials.

Edgecombe County Public Schools stated that it was aware of the investigation into Lamm as well as was cooperating with law enforcement officials.

In addition, the district expressed in an emailed statement Lamm “was suspended with pay effective September 19, 2022, pending further investigation.”

The school district said, “We take the safety and well-being of our students seriously. Student safety is our top priority, and we encourage parents and students to report any safety concerns immediately. Our counselling staff is always available to students who need support.”

Additionally, the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office did not list attorney information for Lamm in its news release.

He had been working at Coker-Wimberly Elementary School in the Battleboro area, roughly 60 miles northeast of Raleigh. As of September 27, the school’s website listed Lamm as a “health/PE teacher.”
