Know here about Command Sergeant Major in US Army Marcario Garcia

United States: Friends of the National World War II Memorial shared the life story of Marcario Garcia of Villa de Castaño, Mexico, who was a Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army and is` awarded by the Medal of Honor for his actions near Grosshau, Germany, on this day in 1944.

Family of Garcia immigrated to the United States of America in Sugarland, Texas in 1924. Garcia joined the Army in November 1942 and was assigned to Company B, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.

On November 27th, 1944, he was an acting squad leader in his platoon and found himself engaged in combat with German troops. He single-handedly went forward alone, destroyed two enemy emplacements, and captured four prisoners despite being wounded in action.

He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on this day. Garcia became an American citizen in June 1947 and earned a high school diploma in 1951. He worked as a counsellor in the Veterans Administration for 25 years. He died in December 1972 after a car accident. He is buried in the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

On the other hand, the Friends of the National World War II Memorial shared another update on Carl Vernon Sheridan of Baltimore, Maryland, was a Private First Class in the Army of the United States and a receiver of the Medal of Honor for his actions at Frenzenberg Castle, in the vicinity of Weisweiler, Germany, on this day in 1944.
