Castries, Saint Lucia: The Gros Islet Cricket Association/Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Programme in an effort to keep our young cricketers meaningfully engaged in the lovely game of cricket continues with a number of exhibition matches.
On Friday December 30, 2022 at the Gros Islet Playing Field mature Under-15 and Under-19 cricketers, combined to play a 35 over a side match.
The teams were led by National Under-19 captain; Tarrique Edward and Windward Islands Under-15 captain; Theo Edward.
Theo Edward’s team batting first, in difficult batting conditions made 170 for the loss of 12 wickets in the allotted overs, with Lee John top scoring with a well played half century. Lee John made 72 inclusive of 8 fours and 5 sixes, Jewelle Simon 29 and Leon Alexander 12.
Along with this, the wicket takers for Tarrique Edward’s team were; Ryan Goodman with 3 for 11 in 6 overs, Jeandell Cyril 2 for 10 in 4 overs, Tarrique Edward 2 for 23 in 5 overs and 1 wicket each to Selena Ross, Kensley Paul, Ryan Martial and Darvin Forde.
In reply, Tarrique Edward’s team finished on 166 for the loss of 13 wickets in 34.1 overs, with Jeandell Cyril leading the way with a fighting half century.
Jeandell Cyril made an even 50 with 7 fours and 1 six, Darvin Forde 28, Tarrique Edward 21, Roystan Fannis 15 and Johnathan Daniel 13.
Moreover, the wicket takers for Theo Edward’s team were; Leon Alexander with 4 for 61 in 8 overs, Isaiah Jones 3 for 35 in 6.1 overs, Lee John 2 for 18 in 4 overs and 1 wicket each to Kevin Gassie and skipper; Theo Edward.
Another game is scheduled for the Gros Islet Playing Field on Saturday, December 31 among Senior and Under-19 players.
