Antigua and Barbuda: 23 National Cadet Corps attend Easter Training Camp

Twenty-Three Cadets from Antigua and Barbuda National Cadet Corps (ABNCC) attended the Montserrat Cadet Corps (MCC) Easter Training Camp over the period 6 to 10 April 2023.

The ABNCC Cadets, commanded by Lt Valerie Acosta, assisted by Sgt Daymie Daly, PFC Julianna Richards and PFC Elphia Daniel, were transported to Montserrat by the ABDF Coast Guard to participate in the MCC Easter Training Camp.

Prior to their departure, Commandant, Major Samuel C. Roberts, encouraged the Cadets to enjoy themselves, make friends, and proudly represent the ABNCC.

Over the weekend, the Cadets engaged in a range of activities, including First Aid, Field Craft, Land Navigation, Command Tasks, Range, Hiking and Drills. One night was spent in the field, where they cooked, and set up the harbour.

During this time, they had a spectacular bonfire and a night of concert. The camp provided opportunities for the Cadets to develop their leadership and team-building skills and learn new training exercises. All Cadets received a Certificate of Participation.

Special awards went to Rec Ashe John Baptiste for Most Outstanding Shot (Male), Most Outstanding Shot (Antigua Rec), Competition Shoot (Camp Marksman), Competition Shoot (Best Grouping), and Competition Shoot (Time Shoot).

The success of the MCC Easter Training Camp is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the ABNCC and the MCC team members.
The ABNCC has been actively involved in the development of young people in Antigua and Barbuda since its inception.

The organization provides young people with an opportunity to learn new skills, develop their leadership abilities, and serve their communities.
