Read here: Michigan blogger shares experience on her visit to St Maarten

From Michigan with Love Blog, a travel blogger from Michigan, USA, recently shared his experience on the beautiful island of St Maarten. The blogger wrote on her official Facebook page, “In St Maarten, I felt kinda home! It was the perfect mix of Holland (Michigan) and vibes I felt back in Kenya. All the colourful street art was a bonus”.

She informed that on day three of the cruise aboard Celebrity Millennium, she went to the friendly island– of St Maarten. The Michigan blogger first wanted to go to Maho Beach by plane, but after much research, she decided to wait a few more years after reports of people getting pelted with sand or pushed into the ocean.

After that, the Michigan blogger took a mild trolly tour through Philipsburg instead. She highlighted that When they drop you off in town, you’re given just 40 minutes to shop, go to the beach, dine at a local restaurant, and check out the many beautiful murals or historic sites.

Spending some time at Philipsburg, she learned that from the cruise port, the individual can take a $7 round trip water taxi into Philipsburg, so if someone ever comes back to St Maarten via cruise, they will definitely do this.

The travel blogger emphasises that she was not a shopper, but the prices in St Maarten were insanely low. Her husband and son got something and only spent $30. St Maarten is a perfect place for shoppers who love shopping in various locations.

The island of St. Maarten is divided into sides, the French side and the Dutch side. The Michigan blogger remarked that the “Dutch” side of St Maarten is part of the Dutch Antilles; it felt more like the Dutch are a historic connection like it is with West Michigan.

There are English-speaking schools, and many Dutch-like souvenirs are the same as at Windmill Island or in a Dutch village in Holland.

After a 40-minute walk around the block, where she dipped her toes in the water, walked the pier, shopped and marvelled at some beautiful murals, she returned to port in the trolly train. Their final stop on the trolly tour was to a shop to sample some Gouda cheese at the Amsterdam Cheese & Liquor Store.

The Michigan blogger managed to pack in a lot in those 40 minutes and probably could have water-taxied back to town after but decided to take it easy on the ship to prep for the next island adventure.
