Saint Lucia Carifta Swimmers Return Home

Seven members of the Saint Lucia Carifta Swim team and three officials return home just after midnight (12.15 a.m.) Friday 14th April 2023. The team arrived via Port Castries from Martinique on Express D ’Isle after another successful outing, despite the many travelling challenges returning to Saint Lucia.

The 36th edition of the Carifta Swim Championship took place in
Curacao over the Easter weekend. Team Saint Lucia wrapped up the four days of competition on Sunday night with another dominant performance by Antoine Destang in the Boys 13 – 14 age group.

Overall, Saint Lucia captured seven gold / three silver and one bronze to finish 5th on the medal table, and the Combined team points 9th overall with 155.
The medal winners for Saint Lucia: Antoine Destang – 7 gold / three silver.
Naima Hazell: 1 bronze. In the awards presented – Antoine Destang picked the prize for the most point (84) for 13-14 boys.

He was also awarded the FINA Performance trophy for boys 13-14.

Meanwhile, the Ministry for Youth Development and Sports extends
congratulations to the entire team and its technical staff for their
outstanding performance at the 36th edition of the Carifta swimming championship.

The Bahamas will host the 37th edition of the Championship on April 2024 from the Communication Unit of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.
