Saint Lucia: Tourism Authority congratulates ten staff members for completing educational programs

Saint Lucia, Castries: The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority expressed their pleasure in recognizing the achievements of 10 staff members from Saint Lucia who have earned credentials after recently completing various educational programs centred on Tourism and Sustainability on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

The Tourism Authority also shared some of the names of 10 staff members who achieved specific credentials in the various educational programs in Saint Lucia.

There were Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Public Relations staffers who participated in the educational programs on Tourism and Sustainability including Jacqueline Emmanuel, Kenrick Haynes, Richard Moss, Kenya James, Maria Hunte, Racquel John, Jenelle Auguste, Christopher Gustave, Geraine Georges, and Rondel Charles have each received certificates for completing a program focused on sustainable tourism destination management through the International Institute of Tourism Studies at George Washington University.

The Tourism Authority shared that the Educational based course on Tourism and Sustainability gave participants a strategic overview of responsible destination management and practical applications.

The Tourism Authority also shared about two of its achievers who earned certificates for courses on tourism and marketing promotion in the “new normal” and branding and marketing of products with local resources, respectively, including Marketing Officer Jenelle Auguste and Sales Officer Racquel John, from the Japan International Cooperation Agency or JICA.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, Lorine Charles St Jules felt pleasure and was also proud to recognize these achievers; he stated, “The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority is strongly dedicated to the development of human resources and promoting sustainable tourism in Saint Lucia.

“We are proud to recognize the achievement of these outstanding employees. We are confident that these newly developed skills will be instrumental in ensuring a flourishing, sustainable future for our country’s tourism industry.”

This is demonstrated by Racquel John’s recent trip to Japan through JICA, where she presented Saint Lucia’s tourism sector in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and discussed countermeasures to mitigate the negative impacts, a business continuity plan for tourism industries and workflows for the preparation of a tourism marketing plan.

“I am filled with immense pride, growth, and maturity, having completed these courses, which pushed me to confront present issues and the ever-changing future. The best part was meeting and collaborating with international experts, which allowed me to take local projects to higher levels while safeguarding the community, environment, and industry.” Remarked Jenelle Auguste.

At Last, The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority shared that by the successful departure of these educational programs, the Tourism Authority is confident that the staff members are well-equipped and skilled to understand the sensibility of tourism and its impact on the development of Saint Lucia island as a responsible and sustainable tourist destination.
