Saint Maarten: Local Police to take crucial steps after numerous reports of stray dog attacks

Philipsburg, Saint Maarten: Due to an increase in reports of stray and aggressive dogs in several areas of St Maarten, the local police force has taken crucial steps to address these concerns. 

Local police are collaborating with dog owners and handlers in various neighbourhoods to eliminate the potential risks associated with stray dogs. Residents raised concerns after an observed increase of victims attacked by these stray dogs. The number of stray dogs has also increased recently on the local streets of Saint Maarten.

The Recent incidents have highlighted the importance of responsible pet ownership and control. In Guana-Bay, the community police officer is actively seeking the owner of a brown and white pit bull that has been involved in several attacks in the local area.

It is really essential to understand the importance of responsible pet ownership, including proper containment of dogs to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors. Every dog owner on the island must take appropriate measures to prevent their pets from becoming a threat to public safety.

The St Maarten Police Force suggests the island residents provide information and cooperate with the authorities to quickly put an end to the threats raised by stray dogs. The island can ensure a safe and secure community for everyone through collective efforts.

A resident from Saint Maarten shared his concerns about the dogs barking all day and night, keeping people awake. He urged the authorities to deliver a solution quickly so people can sleep peacefully. The restlessness caused by stray dogs also affected the daily life of numerous people. 

Another individual reported that two more people in Cole Bay across from PDG were attacked by stray dogs a few days ago. They attacked multiple people. 

The community has expressed worry about the increasing number of stray dogs in the area. One person noted that parents are hesitating to let their children go outside because of the constant presence of these dogs on the streets. The dogs are known to bark frequently, and their potential to attack is unpredictable.
