Sint Maarten: Police Force and VROMI Ministry address Abandoned Vehicles in Philipsburg

Phillipsburg, Sint Maarten: The Sint Maarten Police Force, working together with the Ministry of VROMI (Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment, and Infrastructure), wishes to bring the public’s attention to the problem of abandoned vehicles left in public parking lots in an effort to maintain the safety and functionality of public spaces within the Philipsburg area.

The Sint Maarten Police Force has seen an increase in the number of abandoned vehicles in various public parking spaces in and near the Philipsburg district over the past few months. These automobiles, many of which are in poor condition, have been left parked for a long time without any indication that their owners have relocated them or taken care of them.

Vehicles that have been abandoned or wrecked pose risks and may serve as insect breeding sites. The Sint Maarten Police Force and the Ministry of VROMI advise anyone who has left their car unattended in a public parking lot to act immediately.

It is politely requested of abandoned automobile owners to make arrangements to remove their vehicles as soon as feasible. The authorities will release the abandoned automobiles if this request is not complied with, and the owners of the vehicles will be responsible for all connected expenditures.
