Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Officers of the Special Branch tracked down and destroyed the first methamphetamine production facility in Trinidad and Tobago after a thorough intelligence-driven operation coordinated by Supt. Guevarro and in close coordination with US law enforcement authorities.
On Thursday, August 10, 2023, at around six in the morning, Special Branch officers carried out a search warrant at The Residences in South Park, San Fernando, and found parts that had been put together to resemble a secret laboratory.
A significant amount of cash, precursor chemicals, and packages of crystals that resembled methamphetamine of varying sizes were also found by the officers.
Regarding the lab and the narcotics seized, one citizen of the People’s Republic of China was detained. The matter is still under investigation.
In addition to praising the officers’ hard work, CoP Christopher noted that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is still steadfast in its commitment to the security of the country’s residents. She also urged the general public to keep cooperating with police in the fight against crime in their neighborhoods.
Additionally, she issued a strong warning to local, regional, and international criminal organizations, stating that the TTPS is steadfast in its commitment to eradicating the plague of illegal synthetic substances, which cause significant harm to the society.
