U-23 Inter-Club Super50 tournament: East Bank Essequibo beat Bartica by 3 wickets

Georgetown, Guyana: As the East Bank Zone clinched their place against North Essequibo ahead of their matchup at the Golden Fleece Ground, Sunday’s Essequibo Finals leg of the Republic Bank Ltd. (RBL) Nationwide under-23 Inter-Club Super50 event is expected to be an entertaining match.

Bartica scored 118 runs in 24 overs while batting first, with I—Baccus (22) and H. Lamb (33) delivering the runs. In 7.2 overs, Aryan Persaud, a national player, finished with 4-32, including two maidens, 1 wicket maiden, and 1 double wicket maiden. Wazim Mohammed had an outstanding performance as well, taking 3-38 in 5 overs, including a two wicket maiden.

Then, East Bank fought hard to score 119-7 in just 14 minutes.In two overs, Ronaldo Scouten completed with 36 off 21 balls, while Mohammed 21 came back to score 21 off 15. Bartica’s bowling struggled despite the best efforts of H. Lamb (2-22) and S. Sutton (2-34).

During the second match, after reaching 287-10 in 45 overs, Tuen Hicks hit 18 fours in his 101 off 106 balls to lead Queen’s College to a 156-run victory over Agricola. The other QC scorers were Ntini Permaul (27) and Kevin Williams (36).

Agricola was bowled out for 131 in 21.4 overs thanks to Joel Gilkes’ run-a-ball 29, which included four fours and a six, and 4-47 of bowling for Agricola. Daniel Persaud, who scored 4-26 for QC, was the team’s top ball-scorer. Kampta Seepersaud added 2-3.

The action resumes on Saturday in Georgetown with matches between Lusignan and Better Hope and Upper Demerara and West Demerara at QC. On Sunday, Golden Grove CC competes against Queen’s College, Transport CC faces off against Ogle CC at QC, and MYO faces off against DCC at GCC.
