After a two-year hiatus, which is brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic, St Kitts and Nevis will once again host its annual “Restaurant Week” from July 14 to July 24, 2022. With this, the country is prepared to use its finest chefs to promote its local ingredients, cuisine, and culture.
During restaurant week, several establishments provide reduced or fixed-price menus so that customers may sample a variety of meals that might normally be out of their price range. Any restaurant is welcome to take part in restaurant week, but mid-range and upscale eateries typically do. The basic concept is that neighbourhood restaurants work with local tourism offices or chambers of commerce to promote a week of lunch and supper specials.
The island nation’s farmers are also highlighted during St. Kitts and Nevis’ restaurant week. At each stage of the activities and contests organised throughout the week, the restaurants place emphasis on the importance of farming to tourists. Each restaurant showcases the twin island’s vibrant culture and local cuisine with magnificent events.
Among the events planned for this year is the Tasting Showcase, are being held in both St Kitts and Nevis, where restaurants serve up dishes made from this year’s theme ingredient – sweet potato. The St Kitts Tasting Showcase takes place on July 10 and the Nevis version on July 16. Besides this, there was also a bartender/mixologist competition where people participated in the winning cocktail, “The Eye-Opener”, which featured one of the Kitts rums on July 14.
