During COVID-19 lockdown, schools, workplaces were closed, everyone was forced to stay at their homes. At that time, food was not enough for all as there was a drastic change in the food banks, which worsened the situation. In the U.S., people who require food increased to 60 million in 2020. It was double(50%) from the prior year.
In 2020, some government programs tried their best to work on this concern, but it didn’t end well in the previous year. The private donation also didn’t work well for the people in need. Food banks have soared the purchase of the meals by 58%, but it was still not enough for the people who cannot afford it for the consistency in the nutrition intake.
As in 2021, the new variant of COVID-19, the change in the weather will also lead to crises which the government can not ignore. In 2022, Congress is offering the 2 billion amount to the Emergency Food Assistance Program with America’s food banks which Feeding America will lead. The officials connected with the program seek help for the additional 900 million, so they can work on this properly by meeting the demands.
