The United States public health officials have released a statement while considering excellent quality masks instead of cloth-based facial masks. The U.S. is already witnessing a continuous surge in Omicron cases, which is a new variant of COVID-19.
On Friday, as per the CDC-Centers for Disease Control and Prevention update, in which they have mentioned about various facial masks and their level of protection as compared to the other shield covers.
According to the sources, the agency has acknowledged that some of the masks are more difficult to wear than the remaining ones. It is imperative to select a suitable face cover for proper safety. The shortage of the supply was also a concern, and it has been dragged out.
Centres for Disease Control and Prevention stated in a statement, “For putting a stoppage to the spread of the COVID-19 variant, wearing facial masks are a vital health care equipment, and the significance of the masks is essential as it is better to wear a mask than no wearing one. The CDC advises individuals to wear the most protective masks that will be comfortable, and the person can always wear them to safeguard themselves and others as well.
According to the CDC directions, the surgical masks with the appropriate fitting share are more protective than the loose cloth facial masks. The KN95s provide better protection than the other masks.
Furthermore, it also mentioned, “The respirators has been approved by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health certification (NIOSH), which also includes N95s, as it provided the most elevated level of security.” It is even more necessary to wear such facial masks in critical situations while travelling, taking care of the person who is already suffering from COVID-19.
The guidelines introduced by the officials of the CDC department supported the increase in mask protection while seeing the rise in the new variant of the COVID-19 Omicron. The typical cloth masks should be avoided as it not enough protective.
