United States defence secretary Lloyd Austin tests COVID-19 positive

On Saturday night, U.S. secretary of defence, 68-year-old Lloyd James Austin, tested positive for COVID-19. He was undergoing mild symptoms as per the information provided. He will be in isolation for a period of five days.

In a statement, Lloyd James mentioned, “During his isolation, he will attend all the critical meetings virtually and will maintain all the authorities. He ensured to obey all of his duties.” The people that were in touch with the defence secretary will be tested and quarantined if necessary.

He informed all of his team members, leaders and the President that he had tested positive for the COVID-19. He stated, “The staff have set about to test all of the people who came into the contact of Austin since the last week.”

According to the sources, On the previous Thursday, Mr Austin had a meeting with the personnel group at the Pentagon. On 21st December, his last session was with President Joe Biden. After one week of this issue, his symptoms were initiated.

Furthermore, he said, “Austin was fully vaccinated, and at the starting of the October month, he received the booster. According to the conditions, the symptoms of the infection is milder.”

On Sunday, he was at his home and started experiencing the symptoms in the morning. Austin planned to remain isolated for a maximum of five days, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

Defense Secretary stated, “The performance of the vaccines will be important for the workforces of the military medical requirement.” In October, another member from the cabinet of U.S. President, Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, was tested positive.

Apart from this, the current number of cases of COVID-19 in the United States is 56,142,175, the number of people that recovered from the infection is around 41,543,060, and the number of casualties recorded is 847,408.
