California: Yurok Tribe girl went missing, bringing fears in minds of people

In California, a native American named Emmilee Risling has been missing. Her disappearance is bringing fear in the minds of the people because, in the previous 18 months, the women of the U.S. have been killed or have gone missing in the same region.

The woman was from Yurok Tribe.

The 33-year-old was behaving strangely for several months before getting disappeared. As per the information provided by the sources, she used to get car rides from people she didn’t know, and it has happened various times that she was seen walking naked on the streets of the mountainous coast of Northern California.

Moreover, she also started the fire in a burial area. The girl’s family thought that she might be suffering from a mental health issue, and they forced her for treatment.

She was further noticed wandering over a bridge marked End of Road, in a far corner of the Yurok Reservation and after she was not seen.

Afterwards, this incident made the authorities of the Yurok Tribe issue an emergency declaration.

The Native women of the U.S. face thrice times higher as compared to the white women in America. According to the data provided in a report of 2022 by the National Congress of American Indians, Over 80 percent of Native women have faced violence and brutality.

Since the past year, the Yurok Tribe and the Indigenous-run group Sovereign Bodies Institute has discovered around 18 incidents related to the killing of Native American women and missing.

It has been said that this figure is less than the actual count in the database, approximately 62 percent of the cases are not mentioned in the federal databases or in the list of the state for the missing individuals.

Furthermore, the case of the disappearance of Yurok Tribe’s Emmilee Risling has also got the attention of people that are from other nations (All over the world).
