2 Pennsylvania troops, 1 man killed as car slammed into them

Two of the Pennsylvania state troops, including a man, were killed when a car crashed into them on an interstate in South Philadelphia at the beginning of Monday, according to the officials.

Both the troop named Martin F. Mack III, 33-year-old and Branden T. Sisca, 29-year-old, were killed along with a man who was not identified yet has faced death on around 12:40 a.m. on Interstate 95 South, says the Pennsylvania State Police.

As per the agency, the troops were trying to get the man who was walking by the I-95 into their patrol SUV.

State police Capt. James Kemm mentioned a female motorist was passing by a “High rate of speed” who was trying to pass three of the man on the shoulder of the highway then struck all three of them.

Moreover, Kemm asserted, “The impact was so great that it threw the Pennsylvania state troops over into the northbound lanes of the Interstate 95.”

“The vehicle then struck the Jersey barrier, continued a short distance along Interstate 95 and ended up on the right-side shoulder.”

The PA State Police posted the picture on Twitter and mentioned, “With great sadness, PSP Commissioner Robert Evanchick confirmed today that Trooper Martin F. Mack III, 33, and Trooper Branden T. Sisca, 29, were struck and killed by a driver earlier this morning on I-95 south near milepost 18, Philadelphia.”

When the authorities got the information of the scene, the witnesses were performing CPR on the people that were affected by the incident on the side of the road, he expressed.

In addition, when the incident took place on the spot, all of the three victims were pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, Kemm said, “We are carrying out an active investigation that’s DUI related.”

Furthermore, Col. Robert Evanchick, the state police commissioner, stated, “Troopers Mack and Sisca made the ultimate sacrifice this morning while assisting a citizen in need. These troopers personified our department’s core values of honour, service, integrity, respect, trust, courage and duty.”

“These values were exemplified this morning as they braved traffic along the busy interstate to assist the citizen whose own life was in danger as he attempted to walk along the interstate roadway at night. There’s no greater act of selflessness.”
