If China helps Russia, it will have to face consequences, says US

The government of the United States has mentioned in a statement that if China helps Russia avoid sanctions during its full-scale military operation against Ukraine, they will face the consequences.

The unidentified US officials have reportedly stated that Russia has requested China to support them with military assistance after they start the attack.

Moreover, the Chinese foreign ministry did not respond to the allegations directly but accused the United States of spreading the wrong information against China that they are helping Russia.

During the interview, the US National Security named Adviser, Jake Sullivan said, they were “communicating directly, privately to Beijing that there will absolutely be consequences for large-scale sanctions evasion efforts or support to Russia to backfill them.”

He stated, “We will not allow that to go forward and allow there to be a lifeline to Russia from these economic sanctions from any country, anywhere in the world.”

Sullivan further added while the United States thought China was aware that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was “planning something” before the invasion happened, Beijing “may not have understood the full extent of it.”

US National Security mentioned, “Because it is very possible that [Mr] Putin lied to them the same way that he lied to Europeans and others.”

However, in response to this, the spokesperson for the foreign ministry in Beijing named Zhao Lijian states that the USA had “been spreading disinformation targeting China on the Ukraine issue, with malicious intentions”.

And the question was raised that if he could share the information if he has got any proposal for the military help from Russia, Zhao replied, this was “fake news”, but it was also noticed that he did not refuse it directly.

He went on to say that China’s position has always been constant and that the country is actively pushing dialogue.

On Monday in Rome, Mr Sullivan will meet Yang Jiechi, a member of China’s top decision-making body, the Politburo, as well as the head of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission.
