State Health leaders expects rise in cases of BA.2 subvariant of COVID-19: Reports

Washington, DC– The omicron sub-variant BA.2 is becoming the dominant variant of COVID-19, but the state health leaders mentioned on Wednesday that they expect an increase in the cases of the variant of the COVID-19.

The compulsory mask mandates in the state have been more than a week as well as there was going to be a turnaround in the cases of the COVID-19 infection. The health experts have mentioned that we would start to see it by now.

An assistant professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and assistant director of the clinical virology laboratories at the University of Washington Medical Center, “So, we are actually sort of running along with what the CDC is showing. So, we’re around 25% of cases detected are BA.2. And it’s been sort of slowly creeping up over the last six weeks.”

Moreover, the state Department of Health has recorded the cases of people getting infected by the COVID-19 infection, while the U.S. Centers for Disease Control has highlighted that there is 34 percent of the total cases worldwide.

Along with this, Dr Ali Mokdad, the W Medicine Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, mentioned that the cases of the virus tend to decrease.

He further mentioned, “So, what we are expecting, BA.2 will be the main circulating variant in a month or a couple of months. But what is happening right now, because we are going on a decline of cases, even if BA.2 is taking over, the cases are still going to decline, and maybe disease infections will be coming from BA.2.”

Furthermore, Mokdad stated, “Timing is better for us. When this second wave started hitting Europe, it was still in winter. When it is coming to us, most of our states are moving outdoors, especially most of their activities. And so, the Timing has also been an advantage for us.”
